Minority (Black & Brown) Leadership needed more than ever!

A goal of school leadership is to minimize dysfunction within the school, eliminating the toxicity from creeping in an taking over. As the leadership develop, it will lead to teacher’s having the necessary qualities to help their students to internally build the kind of qualities employers will be looking for in the future.

As they learn to deal with a world of reckless social engineers, who are designing a system where they seek to gain control of people through mental and social manipulation.

As an educator I have seen firsthand in the public schools and local black church, if children are to move forward, it will require all stakeholders to have a real understanding and acceptance to change in the status quo. Also, we must we know our strengths which can led to healing and change. As well as understand the need to to heal physical body, we must address mental side as well. This will requires to understanding the four systems: Self, Metacognitive, Cognitive, and nature of knowledge and knowledge system.

We know from research and history how the black communities have suffered from physical abuse and emotional abuse, and this has led to for many years black people not having available adequate physical and mental healthcare. This can be seen clearly in the health issues where the black women have one the highest infant mortality rate. This has left many of them with scars of emotional and psychological baggage, which also is perpetuated from generation to generation.

Black and Hispanic communities are inundated with health issues which are connected to poverty and economic inequities. Along with the gentrification of communities which is the process whereby poor urban areas are being is changed by wealthier people, so they can move in.

The goal should be to improve the housing for many which will lead to attracting new businesses into their communities which will raise the income level for many. Eventually the current residents are priced out their home either through eminent domain policies or exorbitant tax hikes. Also, this had led to health, economic, information, and food desert within minority communities throughout the United States. The only choice we have is to change how we deal with problem in respect to health and safety of families.

To bring about real changes requires Black, and other minorities take back what was lost due to past injustices which removed them from the field of education. Today minority leaders must know and understand the relationships between the school, the complexities of their social environment, the economic disparities, and the shifting policies which reshapes the education continually.

This means leadership is not only the principals, but the collaboration found within a learning environment which includes teachers, students, parents, and other staff members irrespective of their position in the school.

As stated in my book Wired, I was fortunate to attend a school where most of my teachers and principals from the first to the twelfth grade were black and were exceptional. The helped to foster within us the desire to move forward all with a stable and organic community. Having such a culture allowed us and gave us the opportunity to have the ability to form lifetime friendships with each other as we move out into the real world.
